Día de Los Muertos Near Puerto Los Cabos: Where to See Altars, Catrinas and Candlelight This November

The best-known Día de Los Muertos images in Los Cabos come from the other end of the corridor. Boats glide through candlelight and cempasúchil at the Cabo San Lucas Marina during "Altares en el Mar," and the November 2 parade winds through Centro along Avenida Lázaro Cárdenas. For Puerto Los Cabos, the evenings with the firmest 2026 details are much closer to home. One is inside the community, at El Barrio at Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. The other two are in Animas Bajas, at Flora Farms and Acre. All three are set for the same night, Monday, November 2.

That overlap changes how to plan. You can't do all three properly, so the useful questions are practical ones. What does each ticket include? Who is it for? Which details are still unannounced as of early October?

The table shows three different ideas of the night. El Barrio sells one all-inclusive dinner price. Flora Farms is built around charities and lets you choose how much to take part. Acre layers its holiday programming on top of the restaurant's regular menu. Each is covered below.

Inside the gates at El Barrio

The nearest of the three needs no drive across the estuary. The Puerto Los Cabos HOA posted its Día de Los Muertos announcement for El Barrio on September 13, 2026, with reservations routed to Zadún's restaurant team.

El Barrio is Chef Mel Valverde's traditional Mexican restaurant at Puerto Los Cabos. Its regular rhythm runs from market-inspired breakfasts to street-food lunches and dinner experiences. For November 2, its listing describes an evening of Mexican food, live music and cultural rituals celebrating memory and tradition. It runs from 6:00 to 10:30 p.m. and costs MXN 2,850 per adult and MXN 950 per child, with tax and service included.

That inclusive pricing matters when comparing. Among the published adult prices this season, El Barrio's figure is one of the few you can take at face value, with tax and service already in it. To book, email [email protected] or call +52 1 (624) 172 9000, extension 5439.

Flora Farms and the altars built by charities

A few minutes inland, Flora Farms holds its 10th Annual Day of the Dead Altar Competition the same night. Local charities build the altars, which are set up throughout the farm, each one honoring the people and traditions that matter to that organization. A portion of the night's proceeds goes back to the charities behind them. The evening adds folklore performances, live music and entertainment.

Flora Farms describes four ways to take part this year. The FAQ on its event page explains the distinctions that are easy to miss.

  • A ticket gets you into the cocktail party area, with food and entertainment included. Drinks come from a cash bar.
  • A dinner reservation alone does not include the cocktail party. You can still dine at the restaurant that evening as usual.
  • Walking the farm to see the altars is allowed without attending the party.
  • Children ages 3 to 12 are MXN 525, and children under 3 are free.

Free access to the altars makes Flora Farms the most flexible of the three. If you want a quiet look at the ofrendas before or after dinner somewhere else, this is the one that allows it. The page doesn't show an adult ticket price yet. It also says this year's participating charities will be announced soon. The hours need checking too. Flora Farms lists 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., while the Visit Los Cabos guide gives 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tickets are sold through the link on Flora Farms' event page.

Acre, from Black Harvest Night to the shaman's welcome

Acre is the only one of the three with two holiday evenings, and the first one comes early. Black Harvest Night is on Saturday, October 31, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. in The Blue Room. It is adults only, and the listing gives a price of MXN 2,873 per person. That is within a few pesos of El Barrio's adult price, though the two evenings are two days apart and have different formats.

On November 2, Acre's Día de Muertos celebration runs from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. That gives it the earliest start of the three, which helps if you have young children or want an early evening. According to Visit Los Cabos, guests will find Día de Muertos décor and a traditional ofrenda throughout the property, and Acre's resident shaman welcomes visitors. Seasonal specialties such as pan de muerto and rich hot chocolate are served alongside the regular à la carte menu. Live music runs through the evening, and a Catrina contest invites guests to show off their own takes on the holiday's best-known figure. The event listing also mentions a Catrinas parade.

Acre is at Calle Rincón de las Animas S/N, Col. Animas Bajas, San José del Cabo. The listing doesn't give a separate price for the November 2 evening, so ask when you reserve.

What the plaza has not announced yet

The three local evenings are easy to plan around partly because the bigger public celebration doesn't have a published schedule yet. Visit Los Cabos describes San José del Cabo's Centro Histórico as an open-air exhibition during the holiday, with grand Catrinas, papel picado and elaborate ofrendas in the main plaza. It also describes the Festival de La Catrina as a multi-day San José celebration with handcrafted Catrina competitions, traditional dance and local food tastings. As of October 4, though, we haven't found a municipal program with 2026 dates, times or venues for either one.

The Cabo Magazine's Día de Muertos guide, published September 21, 2026, said it would be updated as municipal, hotel and restaurant events were announced. That is the page to watch if you're thinking of starting the evening in the plaza before heading out to dinner.

Two dated events elsewhere round out the week. Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos hosts Catrinas Night on Thursday, October 29, from 7:00 p.m. to midnight, with a Catrina contest and ticketed entry. Across the corridor, the Cabo San Lucas parade and Altares en el Mar take place on November 2, the same night as the three evenings near home. If you have guests in town, that clash is one more reason to settle on one plan early.

After the ofrendas come down

The holiday also kicks off the busiest stretch of the San José cultural calendar, and part of it lands at the marina.

San José del Cabo Art Walk returns for the season on Thursday evenings from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. It runs November through June in the streets behind the church and main square, according to the Gallery District Association. We haven't seen a 2026 opening date, so the first Thursday in November is a reasonable guess but not a confirmed one.

FICC LosCabos, the Los Cabos International Film and Creativity Festival, holds its 14th edition December 9 to 13, 2026. Cabo News Today reported on September 23 that its venue network includes Marina Puerto Los Cabos, along with Hotel El Ganzo, Cinépolis San José del Cabo, JW Marriott Los Cabos, Hotel Tropicana, Suelo Sur, Zado and Casa Ballena. The festival will honor Dolores Heredia, an actress born in La Paz, Baja California Sur, who served as president of the Mexican Academy of Film Arts and Sciences from 2015 to 2017. Hotel El Ganzo and FICC LosCabos also run their first Writing Lab from December 6 to 12, starting a few days before the festival and running alongside most of it, with mentors Carlos Cuarón, Fernando Frías and Gibrán Portela.

For November 2 itself, the plan comes down to three choices. El Barrio has the all-inclusive price and needs no drive. Flora Farms lets you see the charity altars free or join the full party with a ticket. Acre starts earliest and has the shaman's welcome and the Catrina contest.

If family or friends are visiting for Día de Muertos and asking what Los Cabos life is like beyond the holiday, we're happy to share what we know.
